「烏坎君子」聯國總部示威

廣東陸豐烏坎村上周遭武警血腥鎮壓後，一直被當局嚴密封鎖，目前流亡美國的「烏坎四君子」之一莊烈宏在當地時間19日分別前往美國聯合國總部及中國駐紐約領事館示威，抗議廣東省委書記胡春華暴力鎮壓烏坎村民及控制媒體，促請聯合國關注事件，呼籲中共釋放被捕人士。
國務院總理李克強前日抵達紐約出席聯合國大會，同時，5年前在烏坎領頭維權的烏坎村前副主任莊烈宏亦到聯合國總部外廣場示威，抗議廣東當局打壓烏坎村民及傳媒，驅逐所有記者，又暴力對待在烏坎村採訪的香港記者，「廣東當局做的太過份了，使我沒辦法忍」，呼籲聯合國出手要求中方放過烏坎村民；他又在個人facebook上載影片，指紐約街頭也有十多名李克強的隨行國安監視。
莊宏烈又狠批內地傳媒報道「烏坎村生活安寧有序」不實，他指烏坎村民對外通訊被限制，處於提心吊膽的狀態中，無法正常生活。而上周二（13日）的鎮壓，包括莊烈宏父親在內的數十名村民遭陸豐當局帶走，仍被刑事拘留。

Strikes and protests in China during the first half of 2016 rose almost 20 per cent compared to a year earlier as an early boom in construction-sector unrest gave way to sustained growth in collective action by workers in transportation.

In June, China saw 169 strikes nationwide, down about 5 per cent year on year, according to figures provided by China Labour Bulletin’s strike map. But it saw a total of 1,456 strikes and protests as of end-June, up 19 per cent from the first half of 2015, writes Hudson Lockett.
Collective action by any group outside of China’s state-sanctioned workers’ union is forbidden, but workers often band together to take collective action anyway, and authorities sometimes take a more permissive attitude if the employer is not from mainland China.
In late June, for instance, Walmart staff across China launched a series of wildcat strikes using the mobile messaging service WeChat.
While strikes by retail workers have indeed risen this year, the biggest boost in absolute terms has come from construction workers, who in January helped push total incidents to a record monthly high of 503.

While labour incidents have historically tended to peak ahead of the long new year holiday and then drop off, since 2015 they have failed to do so, instead remaining around the 200 mark for most of the year.
This year, that level has been sustained in part by growth in worker strikes in protests in the transportation sector, which in the first half of 2016 rose more than 92 per cent year on year to total 206. Manufacturing, long the chief driver of collective action in China, saw its share of total incidents for the period drop by around 6 per cent despite dipping only slightly in absolute terms.

The geographic spread of worker action also continued as the manufacturing nexus of Guangdong, a long-time hotbed for strikes and protests, was joined by the coastal provinces of Shandong and Jiangsu as well as the inland province of Henan in witnessing more than 100 incidents over the last six months.
Further inland, the relatively more-developed province of Sichuan wasn’t far behind. Together with 26 other administrative regions they brought the national average per region to 46.6 in H1 2016, a marked increase from the average of 39.5 a year prior.

再上訪就要你命！因不滿強徵土地而上訪的陝西老農夫婦日前當街被砍命危；同日，河南伊川縣派出所內燒死兩名從北京折返的女訪民。各地訪民不測遭遇引關注。司法途徑不暢，民眾遇不公多靠上訪（向上級官方「告狀」）但難有結果，往往換來更多迫害。
陝西大荔縣下寨鎮為建「皇家沙苑旅遊開發」強行填塘徵地，69歲村民陳根虎不滿抵抗。9日上午陳與妻往鎮派出所「協商」，被一輛無牌車攔下，三個蒙面歹徒下車以刀猛砍，一邊叫囂「再去上訪就要你的命！」陳失血過多生命垂危，腿筋、血管、神經被砍斷；妻左手被砍傷縫6針。老人倒卧血泊照片，在網上引眾同情憤慨。大荔公安昨微博稱已抓獲三名疑犯，仍有一人在逃，案件審理中。
派出所內離奇死
同日，河南伊川縣兩名進京上訪女子，被當地黨委書記和公安接回伊川後，離奇在派出所內被燒死。當地宣傳部稱是「自焚」，指當晚其中一女從口袋掏打火機點燃候審室物品，致兩人燒死。說法遭輿論質疑，更有網友懷疑是警方毀屍滅迹。
烏坎村民傳槍指頭逼棄上訴

廣東陸豐烏坎村前書記兼村委會主任林祖戀去年六月被當局拘控後，村內爆發連串示威活動，九名村民上月因非法集會等罪分別被判監兩至十年半。流亡美國的烏坎前維權領袖莊烈宏表示，多名被判監村民尋求上訴，卻遭當局以各種方式施壓，強迫他們放棄。部分家屬曾被公安帶走恐嚇，據報有人被槍指頭威逼簽不上訴保證書。
